Can I upload seamless transparent PNGs?
Yes. Import your seamless PNG into the Pattern Library. VinylMaker repeats the artwork and preserves transparent areas in production PNG exports. Start with a square tile whose opposite edges already match; importing a file does not repair a visible seam.
Does VinylMaker export at 300 DPI for high-quality printing?
Yes. Production sheets are rendered at 300 pixels per inch, often called 300 DPI. An 8.5 × 11 inch production PNG is 2550 × 3300 pixels; a 12 × 12 inch PNG is 3600 × 3600 pixels. Set the intended physical size in your print software, even if it reports a different resolution value. Source artwork still needs enough detail for the chosen tile size.
How do I automatically tile a seamless pattern into an 8.5x11 sheet?
Import a square seamless tile, create a sheet from that pattern, and select an 8.5 × 11 inch sheet size. Add the size in Settings if it is missing. Set the tile size, review the repeat, save the sheet, and export a Production PNG. Print at 8.5 × 11 inches with automatic fit-to-page scaling disabled.
How do I turn a single PNG tile into a 12x12 vinyl print layout?
Create a sheet using the PNG from your Pattern Library and choose a 12 × 12 inch sheet size. A 3 inch tile at 100% scale repeats four times across and four times down. Save the sheet and export a Production PNG for a 3600 × 3600 pixel layout.
What is the difference between sheet size and tile size?
Sheet size sets the finished layout dimensions. Tile size sets the size of one repeat inside that layout. On a 12 × 12 inch sheet, a 3 inch tile at 100% scale produces four repeats across; a 6 inch tile produces two. Changing tile size changes the pattern scale without changing the sheet dimensions.
Will VinylMaker make a non-seamless image seamless?
No. VinylMaker automates repeating an existing pattern tile. If the left and right edges or top and bottom edges do not match, those joins repeat too. Repair the source artwork in an image editor before importing it.
Should I export PNG or PDF for vinyl printing?
Choose Production PNG when you need the exact sheet-sized image, including transparency. Production PDF is intended for workflows that use finish labels and can add a footer beyond the artwork area. Check the PDF page size and your printer or RIP settings before printing. Watermarked preview JPGs are for sharing, not production.
How large should my source PNG be for a crisp print?
At 300 pixels per inch, a square tile printed 3 inches wide should ideally have at least 900 × 900 pixels; a 6 inch tile should have at least 1800 × 1800 pixels. Enlarging a small source creates more output pixels but cannot restore missing detail.
Can I reuse a layout for future vinyl sheets?
Yes. Save sheets in the Sheet Library and save repeat settings as presets to reuse them. Check the selected pattern, sheet size, and repeat scale before each production export.
What computers can run VinylMaker?
VinylMaker is a desktop app with installers for macOS on Apple Silicon or Intel and for 64-bit Windows. It is not an iPad, Android, or browser-based editor. Choose the installer for your computer on the downloads page. Internet access is needed to download the app and activate a trial or license.
Can I try VinylMaker before buying a license?
Yes. Download the app and verify your email in the app to begin a 7-day trial. The trial is tied to your computer; reinstalling does not restart it. The downloads page links to the current license purchase page.
Do I need Photoshop to use VinylMaker?
No. You can import an existing seamless pattern and build a vinyl sheet in VinylMaker without Photoshop. An image editor is still useful for drawing original artwork, retouching an image, or fixing a tile that is not seamless.
